Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi emphasized the sector’s commitment to providing excellent civil services to citizens, most notably the provision of natural gas to homes.
This came during the general assembly of Petroleum Trading Service Company (Petrotrade) to review the fiscal results for the year. Badawi highlighted ongoing efforts to digitize household gas services, streamlining meter readings, bill payments, and customer communication through mobile platforms and self-service.
Badawi added that the petroleum sector provides significant facilities to the industrial sector in settling gas consumption debts as part of supporting national industry and achieving the principles of integration between state sectors.
He pointed to the potential cooperation between Petrotrade employees with Saudi Arabia in the field of energy efficiency and conducting awareness campaigns on the importance of rationalizing consumption, which will have a significant impact on reducing consumption and the import bill.
Additionally, Petrotrade expanded its used-oil collection operations to include feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, supporting green energy transitions, as Badawi noted.
For his part, Chairman of Petrotrade, Wassem Wahdan, reviewed the company’s performance during the past year, noting that the mobile phone was added to the reading and collection system, as well as expanding the utilization of self-service kiosks through the machine so that the customer can record the reading, pay, charge, and communicate with the company.
He added that an agreement was made with the Egyptian Post to use its branches spread throughout the country to collect the gas bill, as well as adding a text message service for the value of the paid bills to any mobile network and gradually eliminating the printing of paper collection notices.
Moreover, a data security and operation center was established using the latest data security technologies and developing the Ajroud warehouse in Suez, which is used to receive used mineral oils and marine waste.
Wahdan pointed out that the number of complaints received from customers amounted to more than 103,000, 98.21% of which were implemented until December 2024, and the rest were completed in January 2025.
Besides, the company succeeded in recording zero occupational injuries in 2024 through a plan to secure the work environment at the company’s various headquarters, which included fire extinguishers, completing civil defense reports, early warning networks, and others, as Wahdan said.
The company implemented 21 programs to raise awareness and train employees on occupational health and safety principles and evacuation plans, he added.
In the field of social responsibility, the company is contributing to a project to rehabilitate homes and small businesses in Al-Amal Village, Belqas, Beheira Governorate.
