Petroleum Minister Praises Energy Cooperation with Apache, Chevron During Talks with US Ambassador

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi highlighted the significant roles of American companies Apache and Chevron in Egypt’s energy sector, noting their key contributions to the country’s achievements in energy and their cooperation in expediting exploration and production activities in line with the petroleum sector’s strategy.

This recognition was expressed during his meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Herro Mustafa Garg, where they discussed enhancing cooperation in oil and gas operations, energy efficiency, and decarbonization projects.

The minister referred to the need to work together and benefit from American expertise and technologies in projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions to make the sector less carbon-intensive.

During the meeting, the incentives provided by the ministry to international oil companies operating in Egypt were also reviewed to face challenges and encourage pumping new investments to accelerate development processes and increase oil and gas production rates, thus achieving the interests of all parties.

For her part, Garg stressed that the relationship between Egypt and the US is strategic, and many American companies are operating in Egypt in various fields and always seeking to increase their investments.

She added that the energy sector is one of the important sectors, and there are successful partnerships in this sector, noting that her country supports Egypt as an important regional energy hub in the region and has the infrastructure and facilities that qualify it for this role.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of focusing on the projects of clean energy, carbon emissions reduction, and developing a program to reach zero emissions in projects.
