The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, asserted during the National Renewable Energy Authority (NREA)’s meeting that the electricity sector is keen on boosting renewable energy by increasing the availability of stations and increasing unit efficiency, a government statement reported on November 11.

NREA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mohamed Mostafa El Khayat, attended the meeting to discuss the improvement of NREA’s performance and the procedures it had conducted to settle its dues with government entities, which led to NREA collecting EGP 300 million in 2019.

In the same context, NREA’s CEO showed that the composite capacities for governmental and private sector projects reached 5,700 megawatts (MW): wind energy registered 1,375 MW, solar cells recorded 1,520 MW, and hydroelectric power acquired 2,832 MW.
