Nigeria to Explore for New Oil, Gas Reservoirs

Nigeria is to offer incentives for oil and gas companies to explore the hydrocarbon potentials of green frontier basins in order to increase country’s depleting reserves, All Africa reported.

The Chad Basin, Anambra, Bida, Dahomey, Gongola/Yola and Sokota Basins alongside the Middle/Lower Benue Trough make up the Nigerian Frontier Sedimentary Basins, which have prospects of oil and gas, as Naija247 reported.

In line with this policy, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)  has urged the National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) to play a key role in promoting public private partnership in the exploration of some of these green frontier basins.
