Minor Gas Leak at Major Kuwaiti Refinery

Kuwait’s major refinery, Mina Al-Ahmadi, suffered a gas leak that occurred in the second line of a gas liquefaction plant and injured a laborer, but did not affect the plant’s operations, reported Reuters.

Kuwait National Petroleum Company said in a statement made to KUNA that the leak did not cause any material damage and workers were able to fix the leak without outside help or disturbing the operation. The injured worker was treated at the scene.

In December, KNPC had shut down some manufacturing units of the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery as a precautionary measure following outage of cooling water, KUNA informed in a report. The unscheduled suspension resulted in some emissions and fumes, but the operation of the units was to be resumed.
