Madbouly and Eni CEO Confirm Arrival of Zohr Drilling Rig by Late January

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly represented President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Switzerland.

On the third day of his participation, Madbouly held a meeting with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni.

Madbouly began by expressing his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between the Egyptian government and Eni. He emphasized his desire to strengthen and expand this partnership to new levels. The Prime Minister also expressed interest in visiting the company’s new exploration sites in Egypt in the near future.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to monitoring efforts aimed at increasing production across various sites in collaboration with international partners, ensuring alignment with established plans.

In response, Descalzi reaffirmed Eni’s commitment to continuing its partnership with the Egyptian government. He provided an update on the company’s activities, noting its intensified drilling and exploration efforts in Egypt.

Descalzi also shared that the drilling rig for the Zohr field is scheduled to arrive on January 28 or 29 to resume operations. He projected that Egypt would achieve high gas production and export rates within two years.

Additionally, Descalzi commended the Egyptian government for its efforts to advance the petroleum sector and for the country’s robust infrastructure.

The meeting concluded with Descalzi expressing gratitude for Egypt’s dedication to settling the financial dues of foreign partners.
