Libya’s oil production is approaching the 1.5 million barrels per day (mmbbl/d) milestone, according to the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Libya’s state-owned oil company.
The NOC announced that crude oil production reached 1.43 million barrels (mmbbl) on Sunday, June 21, 2026, while condensate output stood at 49,163 bbl/d, bringing total daily production to 1.5 mmbbl.
This marks the highest production level recorded since 2013, moving Libya closer to its previously stated target of producing 1.5 mmbbl/d of crude oil.
During a meeting held at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Masoud Suleman, commended the efforts of national oil companies and the workforce across all operational levels. He highlighted their commitment and resilience in maintaining operations despite ongoing challenges.
Suleman also praised the role of department directors for their continuous monitoring of operations across oil fields and production sites, as well as their swift response to operational developments and support for field personnel.
The NOC Chairman emphasized the importance of sustaining current production momentum to achieve the targeted output by the end of 2026, supporting Libya’s economic recovery and growth.
Libya, home to Africa’s largest proven oil reserves, produced around 1.7 mmbbl/d before the 2011 uprising. Since 2011, the country has faced years of production disruptions due to political instability and conflict. Efforts to stabilize output have been central to the country’s economic recovery.
