Kuwaiti Petrochemicals on Track to Sustainability

Equate organized a workshop on sustainability with the Arab Society for Corporate Social Responsibility (ASCRS), reported Trade Arabia.

On this occasion EQUATE Senior Executive for Corporate Communications & Government Affairs Abeer Al-Omar underlined how “Sustainability is a critical objective within EQUATE Corporate Strategy to ensure embodying our ‘Partners in Success’ slogan with all relevant stakeholders, such as our employees, shareholders and communities as a whole.”

Al-Omar, who also heads EQUATE Sustainability Committee, added, “Sharing and leveraging best practices are a must to achieve overall development and growth, and this workshop in partnership with ASCRS is a prime example of such efforts. In addition, this interactive workshop is an integral part of refining our sustainability strategic plan, which is aimed at fully integrating and aligning our sustainability and CSR initiatives with EQUATE Corporate Strategy to add value to the business success and our stakeholders.”

According to Al-Bawaba, Equate is Kuwait’s first international joint-venture in the petrochemicals industry.

ASCRS Board Chairman Sultan Al-Bazie also spoke at the event, insisting that “EQUATE is one of the few companies that publish an annual sustainability report and ASCRS is keen on cooperating with leading organizations in the Arab world to implement exemplary principles of CSR and sustainability, which go beyond donations to reach the level of best business practices in all levels. We believe Kuwait has strong potential to reach such an objective due to its economic prosperity.”

ISO 2006 is set of industry best practices launched by the International Organization for Standardization in 2010, dedicated to global sustainable development.
