Jordan to Boost Energy Cooperation with Algeria, Egypt, Palestine

In order to boost cooperation and allow more investments in the energy and mineral resources industry, Jordan signed multiple agreements with Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, officials said according to Ansamed.

The agreement with Algeria involves the fields of oil and natural gas, whereby the two countries will conduct bilateral training programmes and exchange expertise in the field of raising electricity capacity. Both countries also hope the deal will pave the way for further investment in energy by the private sector in both countries. The Jordanian official said that “it aims at giving the Algerian companies access to the Jordanian market through calls of invitation which will be launched shortly by Jordan willing to buy gas,” All Africa wrote.

Ministry of energy and mineral resources also signed an additional agreement with a joint-Jordanian-Egyptian company to provide the kingdom with natural gas. The natural gas that would be utilized in generating electricity, said officials on the sideline of an international conference on energy held in Amman.

The deal with the Palestinian authority involves amendments to an existing agreement by which Jordan provides the West Bank with electricity supply.
