HCF Discovers Gas, Condensate in Block 7

Local Omani oil and gas operator, Hydrocarbon Finder (HCF), discovered gas and condensate in its Block 7 concession in the western part of Wusta Governorate, Oman Observer reported.

A deep well was drilled in the Barik reservoirs in the Block’s Sahmah field with a “multi-TCF” (Trillion Cubic Feet) potential, alongside of “tens of million barrels of condensates”, the company stated in its 2018 annual report.

The block’s production in 2016 was around 600 barrels per day (b/d), yet it has increased to reach 2,000 b/d through the optimization of completions, recompletions and the pursuit of bypassed reserves.

Moreover, HCF announced installing an Early Production Facility (EPF) and flare stack at the Sahmah production facility in Block 7.

The new discovery represents a boost for the wholly Omani-owned independent energy firm, which has pledged to triple hydrocarbon production from Block 7 in the short term.
