Offshore drilling giant GlobalSantaFe today said today it would sell two of its deep-water rigs working in the North Sea to allay UK regulators’ antitrust concerns related to its merger with fellow drilling contractor Transocean.
GlobalSantaFe will hawk the GSF Arctic 2 and GSF Arctic 4 semi-submersibles. It also will move another rig that is working in the region, the Houston companies said in a press release.
The company said the arrangement did not affect any of its jack-up rigs.
The proposed $18 billion merger is set to close tomorrow.
