The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), gathered in Tehran, accepted Algeria’s proposal to house the headquarters of the Gas Research Institute, reported AllAfrica.

The participants also agreed to promote the cooperation in the field of technology and development of human resources, as stated in the forum’s final declaration.

According to Ennahar Online the missions assigned to this institute are to provide forum members with information relating to the gas industry, as well as the best ways that they could benefit from this data.

Algeria had made this proposal at the first GECF summit in December 2011. The members of the GECF had agreed, at the time, in principle to this proposal but only made definitive decision at the Tehran summit.
