Russian natural gas exporter Gazprom has signed an eight-year off-take agreement for all the liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Perenco Cameroon export plant, Reuters reported.
The Norwegian shipping company, Golar LNG, that owns and operates the LNG terminal, is converting one of its LNG tankers into a floating platform. The production is due to start in 2017.
Gazprom Marketing and Trading Singapore (GM&TS) will offtake 1.2mtpa of LNG.
Perenco and Gazprom M&T declined to comment on the deal.
According to CameroonOnline, the contract is not destination-limited and the Cameroonian LNG could set sail for Latin America, North Africa or East Asia, the destinations where Gazprom had been trying to establish itself as a marketer.
