Thirty-three companies bid in the tender launched by the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) for a 20MW solar power station in Kom Ombo, Aswan. The facility will be built in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), which will finance the project through a facility of over $41m, reported Al Borsa.

Companies that joined the bid include Egypt’s Orascom Construction, Complete Energy Solution, Sun Egypt, Integrated Projects Management, and Infinity Solar, Shanghai Electric and Dongfang. The list further includes TBEA, Sterling and Wilson, Germany’s EFAC Company, Nasr Solar, Belectric, IGI Solar, CCC and KCC.

The presented bids will be reviewed, with the best offers financially and operationally chosen based on the tender’s terms that include a stipulation that bidders should have previous operations in Egypt worth around $46.7m.

Furthermore, the Egyptian government had agreed with DNV KEMA and ERCC Consultancy to prepare feasibility study for the project and study its environmental and social impact.
