Eni to Increase Zohr Natural Gas Production

Italy’s Eni will increase natural gas production from Egypt’s Zohr field by 1.4-1.5  billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by the end of 2018, Al Mal News reported.

The field’s current production is around 400 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d) since the completion of the processing plant, an official at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company stated.

Egypt aims to increase production of its Zohr natural gas offshore Mediterranean field to reach 700 mscf/d in May 2018, Tarek El Molla, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, stated according to Amwal Al Ghad.

Zohr field’s output was previously reported to gradually increase until it reaches 2.7 to 2.9 bcf/s in 2019, contributing to 50% of Egypt’s natural gas production.

Eni has recently agreed to sell 10% of its stakes in Egypt’s Shourouk offshore concession to UAE’s Mubadala Petroleum, Egypt Oil & Gas previously reported. The company owns 60% of the Shorouk concession, which includes the Zohr field.
