A source at the Petroleum Ministry told Egypt Oil & Gas that Eni’s recent giant gas discovery “Zohr”, with 30 tcf of gas reserves, will raise Egypt’s worldwide petroleum ranking to 12 instead of 18, reported Egypt Oil & Gas.

Egypt’s gas reserves are now estimated to be 107 tcf, instead of 77 tcf, with a total of 121 discovered fields. The source explained that the coming period will witness intensified exploration in the Mediterranean in search of natural gas.
