Italy’s giant Eni has conducted two exploration expeditions in the Noras field in the shallow waters of the Nile Delta, and the Zohr field in the deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Eni’s Chief Exploration Officer, Luca Bertelli, stated in a recent study, Daily News Egypt reported.
Results from drilling the two wells Nidoco 3 and Nidoco 4 in the west of Abo Madi, known as the Noras field, revealed a possibility that a large amount of gas is present in the concession area.
In addition, Bertelli pointed out that the accumulative production of gas in the area west of Abo Madi had reached 256bcf before the Noras exploration took place in June 2015. Bertelli explained that the Noras field produced about 10mcm/d for nine months following exploration in the area.
The study further explained that Eni will carry out exploration on several new wells in the area in order to highlight the positive aspects of the research process.
