Egyptian electricity production jumped by 7.3% year-on-year (YOY) in May 2018, generating 17.7 megawatts per hour (MWh) compared to 16.5 MWh in May 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that the country’s electricity consumption increased by 4.2% YOY from 12.7 MWh in May 2017 to reach 13.4 MWh in May 2018.
The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in May 2018, using 5.6 MWh or 41.8% of the country’s total consumption.
The industrial sector used 27.6% of the country’s total electricity consumption (3.7 MWh), making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
