El Molla Reviews Petroleum Products Trade, Distribution System

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has chaired the first meeting of the High Committee to Follow Up Trade and Distribution Petroleum Products System.

The minister affirmed that the formation of this committee aims to follow up on the trade and distribution of petroleum products throughout the entire country through central control rooms dedicated by the Minster of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and petroleum product distribution companies, using the latest technologies.

El Molla added that the role of follow-up units has been boosted to maximize the application of technologies and digital infrastructure as main elements to enhancing the controlling system and raise the operational efficiency for the ultimate utilization of stocks.

He noted that real-time monitoring helps in providing the required needs in each area pointing to the existence of secured strategic amounts of petroleum products.

According to the press release, one of these important technologies, ATG, is applied at more than 3,000 fuel stations. This is in addition to using the GPS to monitor the movement of petroleum products distribution from the warehouses to selling points.

During the meeting, El Molla listened to a discussion about the operation situation of the system as well as the role and tasks being implemented. He also directed towards issuing a periodical report about the operations.

Additionally, the meeting witnessed a presentation by Mahmoud Nagy, Minister’s Assistant for Transportation and Distribution of Petroleum Products, about the role of the operation rooms in following up on the distribution and transportation of petroleum products.

In the same context, the minister inspected the operation room of Cooperation Petroleum Company (Copetrole).
