El Molla Reviews Gas, Mining Market Updates with Australian Envoy

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, has held a video conference meeting with Glenn Miles, Australia’s Ambassador to Egypt, where they discussed the pandemic’s impact on the global gas market and mining activities in Egypt. 

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the latest updates on the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), which the Ambassador described as a positive example for regional cooperation, denoting its essential role in meeting Europe’s energy needs. El Molla also discussed the developments of the global liquified natural gas (LNG) market and its prices which have recovered during the recent period. Delving into Egypt’s gold bid rounds, El Molla affirmed that several international companies submitted bids and the offers are being evaluated and the results will be announced soon.

Miles expressed Australian companies’ interest in investing in Egypt’s mining sector as well as participating in its international mining bid rounds. The Ambassador denoted that his country has been keeping up with the positive progress in Egypt’s oil and mining sectors, which has encouraged international investments in Egypt. Lastly, Miles extended an invitation to Egypt to participate in Australia’s international mining conference.
