El Molla, KUFPEC Discuss Company Activities, Investments in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Kuwaiti Ambassador in Cairo Ghanem Saqer Al-Ghanem and Mohammed Al Sarhan, the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company’s (KUFPEC) Country Manager in Egypt, to discuss the company’s activities and investments in oil and gas production.

The talks specifically focused on the company’s petroleum activities and investments in fields in the Gulf of Suez, the Western Desert and the Mediterranean. The discussion tackled ways to strengthen them during the coming period, especially in light of the successes achieved by the company in the Gulf of Suez in the Geisum and Tawila concession area, in addition to the existence of promising opportunities in the Ras Kanayes concession area in the Western desert.

El Molla stated that the Kuwaiti companies’ tendency to enhance cooperation with the petroleum sector receives great support and welcome from the sector in the context of building strong economic partnerships and increasing joint successes, noting that the distinguished relations and the availability of promising opportunities and possibilities in Egypt constitute an incentive for companies to pump more investments.
The minister highlighted the extended partnership between the petroleum sector and KUFPEC and the history of its work in Egypt, in addition to the distinguished and successful partnership with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, of which KUFPEC is one of its arms, expressing his aspiration for further cooperation during the coming period.

Meanwhile, Al Sarhan clarified that the company’s work history in Egypt, which extends for over 40 years since 1981, makes it keen to strengthen cooperation with the Egyptian petroleum sector and strengthen its activities and business, noting that the joint success achieved in Geisum projects in the Gulf of Suez is a source of pride and can be building on it to achieve more success.

For his part, Al-Ghanem highlighted the depth and strength of the brotherly relations between the two countries, which paves the way for further cooperation and joint work in all fields, especially oil and gas, in light of Egypt’s remarkable results in this sector and the provision of encouraging investment opportunities.
