Egypt, Spain Discuss Hydrogen Production Investments Opportunities

Within the framework of his current visit to Spain, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, met with Javier Brey, President of the Spanish Hydrogen Association, and members of the association. The meeting reviewed the investments opportunities in the Egyptian market in the field of hydrogen production.

The Minister said that the Egyptian market has many distinguished investment opportunities in the field of hydrogen production, within the framework of the state’s current orientations to expand green energy projects and increase their contribution to energy production in Egypt and export to regional and global markets. El Khatib highlighted the Ministry’s keenness to provide all forms of support to the association’s member companies to invest and expand in the Egyptian market.

El Khatib explained that the meeting reviewed the activities of the association, which includes 430 members working in the field of hydrogen and related activities, including renewable energy developers, equipment and component manufacturers, engineering and contracting companies, oil, gas and industrial gas companies, and the transportation sector.

The Minister added that it was agreed during the meeting to send a delegation including a number of companies that are members of the association to visit Egypt to learn about the investment opportunities available in the field of hydrogen production, as well as to hold meetings with research centers, universities and partners interested in this sector.

The meeting reviewed the measures and procedures currently adopted by the Egyptian government related to financial, monetary and trade policies aimed at facilitating investors and facilitating the movement of foreign trade in Egypt.

For his part, Brey praised Egypt’s great potential and capabilities in the field of hydrogen production in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and Egypt’s competitive and price advantages.

Brey noted that the coming period will witness the issuance of decisions by the European Union to provide new advantages for hydrogen production.

Brey pointed to Spain’s current trends to develop its port network and infrastructure to enhance its role in increasing reliance on hydrogen in the coming period.
