Egypt Invests EGP 2.9 B EGP in Electricity Grid Development

The North Cairo Electricity Distribution Co. (NCEDC) is developing the electricity grid with a total investment cost of EGP 2.93 billion, Amwal Al-Ghad reported.

This came as Hossam Afifi, Head of NCEDC, presented the company’s latest investments to Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to go through the updates regarding the electricity grid development in Egypt.

Afifi emphasized on the company’s efforts in improving the provided service performance and quality, which made the electricity bills collection rate reach %87.1.

He also took into consideration data accuracy and wide inspection to detect any violations and support the electricity gas development across Egypt.

He also added that the total cost for the overhead power lines transforming into underground cables process reached EGP 27.921 million, and the sector accomplished %78.1 of the process.

Afifi stressed on how the regularity of collecting charges is critical for the company to fulfill its side of the deals.
