Egypt Enters Top 20 Countries in Gas Reserves: Baker Hughes

Recent natural gas discoveries in Egypt have put it among the top 20 countries in terms of reserves and production, Mirna Arif, regional sales director at Baker Hughes, has said, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

He also said that Egypt’s giant Zohr Gas field will revolutionize the country’s energy map and help it to become an energy exporting country and regional gas hub in the future.

Arif’s comments came during the second day of the Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2018) on April 18th, in the session entitled “Egypt as a Regional Energy Hub”.

Baker Hughes has been involved in the second phase of the Zohr field and contributes to the operation of the liquefied natural gas plant in Idku, on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.

Arif affirmed the company’s desire to strengthen its partnership with the oil and gas sector in Egypt, which extends for more than 100 years, Arif stated.
