In a press release to Egypt Oil&Gas, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum stated that the government continues its efforts to monitor and regulate the distribution of Butane, with a push to increase supplies of gas tanks to meet household demands and avoid distribution bottlenecks.
Furthermore, Butane facilities and distribution channels were open during Eid holiday, in early September, to meet market demands. The government also sent additional trucks with liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders to areas suffering from a decline in the availability of the cooking gas, the Daily News Egypt reported.
An official with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation stated to Egypt Oil&Gas that since the beginning of September, the company has been suppling the domestic market with 1.1m LPG tanks on daily bases to resolve shortages, citing price gouging and black-markets as the cause of distribution disruptions.
