Egypt, Algeria Discuss Petroleum Cooperation

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek el Molla, discussed cooperation in projects with the Algerian Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, during a meeting attended by Algerian ambassador to Egypt and his accompanying delegation, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

“The relationship between the two countries goes a long way back, as Egypt imports part of its butane needs through an agreement between Alegria’s Sonkrat and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC),” El Molla stated, pointing out Petrojet’s participation in several petroleum projects in Algeria.

The talks with the Algerian minister included cooperation in other fields, such as petrochemicals, which will be of mutual benefits for both sides. Additionally, the two ministers discussed the possibility of allowing the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC) to operate in Algeria.

Meanwhile, Guitouni declared his full support to increase the cooperation between the two sides, including exchanging expertise and advanced technologies in the oil and gas field.
