Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation’s (EGPC) Chairman Salah Abdel Kerim followed up on the implementation of the butane gas trading monitoring project using the SCADA system at the headquarters of Petrogas Company in Cairo.
The project being implemented comes within the vision of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) to achieve digital transformation in the activities of the petroleum sector in order to tighten control over the circulation of butane gas in the local market.
Petrogas Chairman, Mohamed Farhat, reviewed the project’s status, explaining that it is working to monitor the available butane gas balances at all company sites across the country and to connect to the fuel room at the EGPC to capture and record the quantities.
This is the first phase of implementing the SCADA system, which includes the company’s sites in (Giza / Sohag / Alexandria. The second phase will start on December 29th and will end on May 31st, 2025 to cover all stations and sites of Petrogas.
Farhat also reviewed all the plans for digital transformation in the company’s butane gas system, which will continue until 2028 and include, in addition to this project, other projects to monitor butane balances inside tanks (Tank Gauging System), monitor and manage butane gas tankers, and a project to manage data for butane gas cylinder filling equipment.
Abdel Kerim directed the necessity of following occupational safety and health instructions in all company sites with precision and firmness to preserve the human element as it is the real wealth of the petroleum sector.
