Egypt’s Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Cargas) has exported its first shipment of hydraulic oils to Türkiye, marking its entry into lubricant exports as part of a broader strategy to diversify activities and expand into regional and international markets. The company said the move builds on its technical capabilities and aims to increase exports of oil‑related products.

The step also aligns with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to boost the competitiveness of Egyptian petroleum products, open new markets, expand exports, and maximize value added from the country’s resources.

Cargas plans to build on the initial shipment by expanding its oil exports and strengthening its position in regional and international markets, while maintaining its core activities in natural gas vehicle conversion and the construction and operation of natural gas fueling stations.

In May, a delegation from Cargas visited Nigeria to explore expansion opportunities into the Nigerian market and participate in national initiatives aimed at expanding compressed natural gas (CNG) utilization and transferring the company’s expertise and pioneering experience in this field.

Egypt has been seeking to expand the export of higher-value petroleum products and strengthen the competitiveness of locally manufactured lubricants. In May 2026, Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, discussed with ExxonMobil opportunities to expand the production, distribution, and marketing of high-quality synthetic greases and lubricants. ExxonMobil said lubricants manufactured in Egypt are currently exported to more than 30 countries, with plans to expand that figure to 45 markets.
