According to sources at EGAS, the company plans to announce the names of the winning bidders for the exploration bid round in the Mediterranean, by the end of this month, reported Al-Shorouk.

EGAS had completed its technical evaluation of the bids submitted. The results of the evaluation are presented to EGAS’s board of directors for review.

EGAS had issued this bidding round, in March, for eight offshore blocks, only to extend the closing date for an additional two months, from the end May to end of July, expanding the number of blocks to 12 altogether, three  of which are onshore, while the rest is offshore.

The source also revealed that the company was currently preparing studies for a number of marine blocks to be presented in a new bid, which is expected to be launched early next year.
