Baker Hughes has ranked first in the energy sector and 37th overall in the 2026 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking, recognizing the company’s performance in sustainability, transparency, and corporate responsibility.

The annual ranking, which has evaluated the largest publicly traded US companies since 1999, recognizes companies demonstrating leadership in non-financial disclosure and positive contributions to communities, employees, and the environment worldwide.

Published by 3BL, a sustainability and social-impact communications company, the ranking assesses companies based on their publicly disclosed environmental, social, and governance performance.

Fewer than 20% of Russell 1000 companies have appeared on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens list in the past five years.

“Baker Hughes has long viewed sustainability as a core to our business strategy and a fundamental part of our culture,” said Baker Hughes Chief Sustainability Officer Allyson Book.

Book added that the company uses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Global Compact as frameworks for its sustainability efforts, focusing on its operations, technology development, and business decisions.

Baker Hughes reported a 36.9% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2025 compared with its 2019 baseline, marking its largest emissions reduction to date.

The company also reduced combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 facility emissions by 49% from the 2019 baseline, supported by increased renewable energy use and operational efficiency measures.

Beyond emissions reductions, Baker Hughes supported more than 900 charities worldwide in 2025. More than 2,100 employees also contributed over 45,000 volunteer hours to communities where the company operates.

“The companies on this list stood by transparency, even when doing so became more difficult,” said 3BL CEO Charlie Wilkie.

The 2026 ranking assesses companies across seven pillars, including climate change, employee relations, and human rights, based on 221 factors.

According to 3BL, all data considered for the ranking must be publicly available, with companies neither required to pay a fee nor lobby for inclusion. The data used for the 2026 ranking was published between June 2025 and June 2026.
