Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi chaired a roundtable titled “Egypt: Shaping a Pragmatic and Realistic Energy Future” during his participation in Gastech 2024.
During the roundtable, the minister highlighted the government’s new strategy, emphasizing its focus on attracting investments across various sectors, particularly in energy. He also underscored his commitment to addressing the obstacles and challenges faced by some foreign companies, aiming to achieve greater successes in line with the government’s goal of “building a competitive economy that attracts investments.”
The roundtable tackled various topics, the most important of which were the short-term plan of the Egyptian petroleum sector and ensuring the security of the required energy supplies, as well as the future plan related to accelerating new discoveries and increasing production in cooperation with the strategic partners of the sector.
The discussions also addressed the clean and renewable energy resources and how to achieve a safe energy transition while ensuring the availability of energy for all peoples, as Badawi reviewed the efforts of the Egyptian government, especially the petroleum sector, in this field.
Additionally, participants at the roundtable emphasized the importance of attracting more investments, particularly in the natural gas industry, to ensure a stable supply. They also highlighted the need to drive digital transformation and localize modern technologies within the sector.
