Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi participated in the CERAWeek World Energy Conference, held from March 10 to 14, 2025, in Houston, Texas, USA, under the theme ‘Moving Ahead: Energy strategies for a complex world.’ The conference addresses current and future challenges related to ensuring energy security and achieving energy transition.
Badawi participated as a keynote speaker in a panel discussion entitled “Energy Security Challenges: Today and Tomorrow,” with the participation of Dan Jørgensen EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing; Fatih Birol Executive Director of the International Energy Agency; and Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of Morocco.
The Minister asserted Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub for connecting the Middle East, Africa and Europe, reviewing Egypt’s efforts for regional integration in the energy sector with Cyprus, Greece and Saudi Arabia. He also reviewed the efforts made to attract investments to the oil and gas sector through legislative reforms and investment incentives.
