Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has met with Hani Abdel-Moneim, CEO of the Fujairah International Oil and Gas Corporation, to explore the ways of cooperation in the field of petroleum transportation and storage.

The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Nagy, the Undersecretary for Petroleum Product Transportation and Marketing at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), from the Egyptian side and Ahmed Adel, Advisor to the Government of Fujairah, from the Fujairah side.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation and partnership between the two sides. They discussed the launch and inauguration of investments in Egypt, in light of the availability of distinguished petroleum components and infrastructure, especially in the Mediterranean region and the important Egyptian role as a regional hub for energy trade and transportation, which supports the chances of success of new investment projects.

They also reviewed the field of ship supply and agreed to explore the possibility of cooperation in this field.

Nagy said, “This preparatory meeting comes to discuss aspects of cooperation with the Fujairah government and the companies it represents, as there are many feasible opportunities that can be worked on and benefit all parties.”

For his part, Adel stated “Egypt enjoys many promising and important opportunities in the field of oil and gas, and we intend to cooperate with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum to study many important opportunities that will enhance the presence of the Fujairah government and the companies it represents in the Egyptian energy sector.”

This preparation meeting came in light of the Minister’s invitation to the Fujairah officials during his visit to the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) to visit Egypt, especially the Western Desert petroleum region and the port of Al Hamra, to learn about the latest petroleum projects and exchange experiences and methods used in the field of handling and storing petroleum products.
