Badawi, Al Jaber Discuss Expanding ADNOC Investments in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met Sultan Al Jaber, UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Group, to discuss increasing ADNOC investments in gas exploration and production activities in Egypt, while also expanding business opportunities for Egyptian engineering and construction companies, particularly ENPPI and Petrojet, in the UAE market.

The two sides reviewed the activities and plans of Arcius Energy, an ADNOC-BP joint venture, in Egypt. Arcius is targeting higher natural gas production through exploration programs, field development projects, and existing producing assets.

Arcius’ plans for this year include developing the Harmattan gas field, launching an offshore drilling campaign beginning with the West Atoll exploration well, and continuing participation in the development of the Zohr gas field and the North Damietta area, which includes the Atoll field.

ADNOC’s presence in Egypt is primarily through  Arcius Energy and XRG, ADNOC’s international investment arm. Beyond its ongoing participation in strategic assets such as the Zohr and Atoll fields, the company is expanding its footprint through exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the development of the Harmattan gas field, for which a $500 million final investment decision (FID) was approved in 2026. Arcius also holds exploration interests in the North El Tabya, Bellatrix–Seti East, and North El Fayrouz blocks, supporting ADNOC’s long-term growth strategy in Egypt’s upstream gas sector.
