Amec Foster Wheeler was awarded the extension to its existing Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract for the UZ750 project at the Upper Zakum (UZ) oil field in Abu Dhabi, reported Trade Arabia.
The field is operated by the Zakum Development Company (Zadco), which awarded the extension, as a joint venture with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ExxonMobil and the Japan Oil Development Company.
According to Offshore Technology the field currently produces 500,000 b/d of oil, a number set to rise to 750,000 b/d through the UZ750 project.
The Amec contract is worth $75m. UZ is the second largest oil field in the Gulf and made up of four artificial islands.
