President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi urged his government to accelerate its plans for localizing the automotive industry that uses clean, unconventional energy sources, according to a statement issued by Presidency website.
Al-Sisi said that Egypt is targeting to reach the largest possible percentage of the manufacturing and local production of cars and mass-transit vehicles in order to keep pace with the future prospects for that industry and to benefit from its various social, environmental and economic dimensions.
The president’s remarks came during a meeting with the Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, in attendance of President’s Assistant for National and Strategic Projects, the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Head of the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Ministers of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Public Business Sector, Trade and Industry, and Military Production.
The meeting also showcased the different aspects of the national project for natural gas cars conversion to keep pace with global progress in the automotive industry and preserve the environment.
