Sheikh Zayed City Development Authority is in the process of launching a 500 MW power plant, with investments worth EGP 200m ($25.5m). The plant will be built on a 15,000 square meters over a period of 2 years, Gamal Talaat, Head of the Authority told Amwal Al Ghad.
The plant is set to be implemented on two phases, each phase will generate 250 MW. Operations will begin in late 2016. Designs and funding plans are currently being finalized for the commencement of the project, according to Talaat, adding that the Sheikh Zayed City Development Authority is currently comparing between the Armed Forces and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) to execute the project.
