10 thousand workers at Petrotrade are on their 6th consecutive day of a wage increase strike. The strike is witnessed at the Giza, Cairo, Assuit, El Haram, Nasr City, and Masr El Gdida branches, the strike organizer told Egypt Oil & Gas.
Striking workers represent more than 50% of the 18,000 employed workers for the company.
Requests by the workers include: the return of arbitrarily dismissed workers, who were claimed to have been fired unfairly without any negotiation or investigations; in addition to the inclusion of the past two years financially and administratively for all employees, family medical care, and matching job titles to those of other petroleum companies.
