At least ten Iraqi security forces have been killed in an attack by Islamic State (IS) militants on a gas field in the western province of Anbar, Iraq News reported.
“IS militants launched an attack on Akkas gas field in western Anbar, leaving 10 security forces dead,” a security source told Alghad Press website.
“Tribal and popular mobilization forces rushed to the site in a bid to repulse the brutal attack,” the source added.
The Akkas gas field has a production capacity of 400 million cubic feet per day of gas.
