Supreme Council of Energy Convenes to Discuss Energy Diversification Goals

The Supreme Council of Energy held a meeting chaired by Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister to discuss securing energy supplies from diverse sources to support the state's objectives across key productive and developmental sectors. The meeting also emphasized aligning with Egypt's sustainable development vision and attracting more domestic and foreign investments.

Egypt Launches $117mn OBN Seismic Survey Project in Eastern Mediterranean

Egypt plans to carry out an ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic survey project in the Eastern Mediterranean, covering an area of 95,000 square kilometers using the latest global technologies in seismic surveying and exploration, according to Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The project aims to utilize gas resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, while boosting investment opportunities in gas exploration and production in Egypt, said Badawi during the GASTECH Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy.

EMGF, MCS Team Up to Enhance Cyber Security at EmpowerMed Women Network

Mideast Communication Systems (MCS), a leading regional IT solutions provider, and The East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), a regional platform for structured dialogue on natural gas policies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch a Cybersecurity Capacity Building Program specifically designed for the EmpowerMed Women Network, an initiative founded by EMGF to support women’s empowerment and leadership.

EGAS, bp to Drill Five Exploratory Gas Wells in the Mediterranean

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with bp for assessing opportunities to implement a drilling program of five exploratory wells at depths ranging from 300 to 1,500 meters in the Mediterranean Sea. The agreement aims to accelerate natural gas production from the West Nile Delta by leveraging existing infrastructure. Drilling operations are scheduled to begin next year, with potential new discoveries to be tied to current facilities after evaluation.

Khalda’s New South NUT-1 Gas Well Adds 50 mcf/d to Local Production

Khalda Petroleum Company, a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Apache Corporation, has started producing natural gas from the new South NUT-1 well in Egypt's Western Desert. The well is currently producing approximately 50 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d) of natural gas, a significant boost to local output.

EGX Penalizes Maridive and AMOC for Listing Rule Violations

The Egyptian Exchange's (EGX) Listing Committee, at its meeting on 03/09/2025, decided to impose a financial penalty of EGP 5,000 on Maridive & Oil Services Company, to be paid within 15 days from the date the company is notified of the Listing Committee's decision.
This comes with reference to the provisions of Articles 46 and 47 of the EGX’ listing and delisting rules for securities, which relate to the preparation of and submission to the EGX of quarterly standalone and consolidated financial statements for the financial period ending on 30/06/2025.

El-Sisi Urges Intensifying Exploration Activities, Attracting investments in Oil and Gas

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the continued development of newly discovered wells and integrating them into the production map, while intensifying exploration and drilling activities, to enhance Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub, according to Mohamed El-Shennawy, Presidential Spokesman. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly and Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.  The meeting addressed the latest developments in the mining sector, along with mechanisms to attract and stimulate foreign investment in this vital field, as well as the outcomes of Badawi's participation in the International Mining and Resources Conference recently held in Australia.

Badawi Reviews Progress on Cypriot–Egypt Gas Link in Nicosia

During his recent visit to Cyprus, Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, reviewed the progress of joint efforts to link Cypriot gas fields with Egypt’s infrastructure, and stressed the need to accelerate work in coordination with all stakeholders. The project,according to Badawi, aligns with the shared vision of the two countries to position Egypt as a pivotal regional energy hub and enable Cyprus to become a key gas exporter to Europe, ensuring energy security for both nations and the broader region, Badawi added.

The African-Australian mining and energy conference, Africa Down Under (ADU), the largest African mining event held outside the continent, concluded in the Australian city of Perth on September 5. This year's edition saw the first official Egyptian participation by a delegation headed by Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
