EMGF, MCS Team Up to Enhance Cyber Security at EmpowerMed Women Network

Burullus Gas Company Brings Two Offshore Wells Onstream, adds 60mcf/d

Burullus Gas Company has brought two new wells onstream in the deepwater West Delta area of the Mediterranean, with a total daily production of 60 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d) of natural gas, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources revealed on Friday. The new wells are expected to help reduce the gap between production and consumption in the country’s local market, particularly during the summer months when demand is typically higher.

Badawi Checks the National Gas Network Readiness for Peak Demand in an Unannounced Visit

Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), paid a surprise visit to the National Gas Network Control Centre (NATA) at the headquarters of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) on Wednesday to inspect the network’s operational readiness and contingency plans for handling potential surges in consumption during peak power demand months. Badawi listened to a detailed briefing from Yasser Salah El-Din, Chairman of GASCO, on the network’s operational preparedness.

WASCO Revives Abandoned Well, Boosts Gas Production, Reserves

A team from El Wastani Petroleum Company (WASCO) restored production from the Balsam-3 well, which had been slated for permanent abandonment, transforming the well from a candidate for abandonment into a natural gas producer. The well yielded approximately 5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscf/d), adding 4 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas to the company's reserves.

MoMPR spokesperson:The Gas deal with Israel is Not New

Egypt has not signed a new agreement to import Israeli gas, clarified Moataz Atef, the Undersecretary for the Minister's Technical Office and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during a prime-time talk show on Friday night.

His comments came in response to media reports suggesting Egypt had entered a new $35 billion deal to import gas from Israel through 2040. Atef explained that this is not a new agreement, but rather an extension of an existing 2019 deal.

EMRA to Finalize Mining Geoportal by Year-End: Chairman

The Chairman of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), Yasser Ramadan, announced that the Authority will finalize and launch its new mining geoportal by the end of the year. The move supports EMRA’s transformation into an economic body, with a dedicated digital platform that provides investors with the up-to-date geological data they need to make informed investment decisions in Egypt.
“We needed to think like an investor. So we had to ask: what does an investor need? An investor needs clarity, stability, and a huge amount of data. Data is crucial for making a decision to invest,” said Ramadan.

Egypt Has Potential for Strong Risk-Reward Ratio: Investors at Mining Forum

Investors and mining executives on the second day of the Egypt Mining Forum said that recent government reforms are improving the country’s appeal as a mining destination, citing a better risk-reward balance and increasing openness to foreign investment.

Speaking at one of the panel discussions on the second day of the forum, Mostafa Talaat, CEO of Egypt-based junior exploration firm ANKH Resources, praised the Cabinet’s efforts to foster transparency and open dialogue, saying these measures are encouraging companies to grow.

The project aims at maximizing the added value and increasing the economic return of Egyptian phosphate ore by using it in high-yield industries rather than exporting it as raw material.
