Women Represent 33% of Senior Management in Oil, Gas Sector: El Molla

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, said that women represent 33% of the total senior management and 30% of the total employment in the oil and gas sector, a press release cited.

El Molla’s remarks came during a celebration event organized by the General Trade Union for Petroleum Workers (GTUPW) on the occasion of Egyptian Women’s Day, and Mother’s Day.

During the event, El Molla praised women’s recent achievement in the sector and affirmed that women have an effective role in all stages of production, valuing their commitment despite challenges, and difficult circumstances.

According to the minister, the oil and gas sector is currently witnessing the largest women representation in the sector’s history.

Additionally, El Molla highlighted the ministry’s keenness to boost endeavors to increase the contribution of the petroleum sector to the gross domestic product (GDP), while underlining that the ministry’s development program since 2016 pays most of the attention to the development of young women and men cadres.

For her part, Aida Mohieldin, Assistant Head of GTUPW and Women Secretary, expressed her appreciation for the ministry’s support to women in the sector, especially during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Gobran, Head of GTUPW, praised the minister’s support to women, stressing that all workers in the sector will continue to serve Egypt.
