Egypt’s petroleum minister Tarek El Molla updated the World Bank’s senior vice president, Mahmoud Mohieldin, about Egypt’s economic situation during a visit to the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington DC, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
El Molla and Mohieldin discussed the status of the Egyptian energy sector following the latest round of subsidy cuts, as well as the government’s long-term plan to transform the country into a regional energy hub.
The minister also met other World Bank officials including Hafez Ghanem, vice president for the MENA region, and Riccardo Puliti, senior director for energy and extractives.
The meetings took place in Washington DC during the 2018 World Gas Conference , which took place between June 25-29.
