Weatherford Signs 20-Well Contract in Iraq

The Irish drilling services provider, Weatherford International, has signed an eighteen-month contract with the Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) to provide services for the drilling and completion of 20 wells in the Al-Nasiriyah field in southern Iraq, according to a press release.  

Basim M. Khudair, General Director for IDC, said, “Signing this contract between IDC and Weatherford is a great accomplishment for both parties. It sets the right ground for our mutual and constructive joint cooperation in the future.”

The contract includes the provision of rigs, civil works, and drilling services to IDC. IDC will also provide four rigs where operation is expected to be performed. Meanwhile, Weatherford will provide project management and all other associated services. 

IDC is an Iraqi service company focusing on rig services and is part of the nationalization program for the country’s oil and gas sector.
