Vaalco to Intensify Operations in Eastern Desert

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, has met with Iman Hill, Country Manager of Vaalco Energy in Egypt, to discuss the US-based company’s plans to expand its operations in Egypt and to utilize renewable energy sources at its operational sites in the Eastern Desert by connecting its production facilities to these sources, according to press release issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

For her part, Hill expressed her appreciation for the significant support provided by the MoPMR. She stressed that the regular payment of arrears encouraged the company to intensify its work in the Eastern Desert through an ambitious program that began last December.

Moreover, she discussed plans to operate three wells by using solar energy and connect production facilities with renewable energy sources, including solar and wind. She also mentioned the ongoing work in the South Ghazalat area in the Western Desert, one of the company’s concession areas in Egypt.

Badawi praised Vaalco’s decision to intensify operations and explore new concession opportunities, especially in the Eastern Desert, and affirmed that these moves demonstrate growing confidence in Egypt’s policy of honoring financial commitments to its international partners.
