As part of COP 27, Decarbonization Day’s opening session on November 11 will be attended by top global energy and climate officials.
It will include John Kerry U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Tarek El Molla, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Ahmed Samir, the Minister of Trade and Industry, as well as Gerd Müller, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The session also feature Daniele Violetti, the Senior Director of Programmes Coordination at the UNFCC, Christian Bruch, CEO of Siemens Energy, and Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy & Digitalisation. It will be moderated by Carlos Pascual, Senior Vice President for Global Energy and International Affairs at S&P.
It shall be the first time in the history of climate conferences and summits to shed the light on oil and gas efforts for decarbonization.
The agenda of the day will include other discussion panels about the efforts of the oil and gas industry to reach neutral carbon, the challenges of this issue, and the commitments to increase the ambitions in this regard.
