Sea Dragon Energy’s EWA-4X well in the Gulf of Suez in Egypt is to be plugged and abandoned after failing to find substantial hydrocarbon deposits, Canadian operator Dover Investments said.
Dover said the deviated well, which is being drilled from an onshore well pad, had reached basement rocks after penetrating the target Carboniferous Bubia formation, which contains several potential sandstone reservoirs.
Dover said the well was being wireline logged before being plugged. It said the partners on the block would review data from the well to reassess their exploration program on the block.
