South Pars Platform to Produce Gas by mid-March

Iran’s South Pars Gas Field development project will begin producing gas at one of its platforms of Phase 19 by mid-March 2016, reported Trade Arabia.

Managing Director of the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Ali Akbar Shabanpour, said that gas has already been pumped to the refinery of Phase 18 of South Pars.

Shabanpour explained that expanding gas production capacity in phases 15 to 19 of South Pars Gas Field was a priority for the company.

According to Fars News Agency the offshore platform of Phase 19 was completed after 69 months on November 17th, 2015 by an Iranian installer as a first offshore structure of the new South Pars development project.

The platform weighs in at 2,700t, and is set to produce 50 mcm/d of sweet gas, 75,000b/d of gas condensate, 400t/d of sulfur, 1.05mt/y of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane.

POGC had awarded this development phase to a Petropars-led consortium of Petropars Limited, Petropars Iran, and IOEC in June 2010 under an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract. Petropars Limited and Petropars Iran are responsible for onshore installations and drilling operations.
