Algerian state energy group Sonatrach unveiled two more oil and gas finds, bringing to five the number of hydrocarbon discoveries made by the company this year.
Sonatrach said that the new finds were made on blocks 239a and 244a in the Tinrhert area in Illizi basin.
Sontrach added that the Akamil-2 well on Block 239a flowed at a rate of about 600 barrels of oil per day, from the Upper Devonian F2 formation between depths of 1960 and 1967 metres. The Antar Est-2 well on Block 244a flowed gas at a rate of about 194,000 cubic metres of gas and 555 barrels of condensate per day from the same formation.
It’s worth mentioning that Algeria is the world’s fourth-largest exporter of natural gas and the eighth biggest exporter of crude.
