Khaled Abdul Ghani, smart cards project manager at E-Finance told Egypt Oil & Gas that a 100,000 cars have been added to the smart cards of for the distribution of subsidized gasoline and diesel to the citizens of all the provinces.

He said the actual application of the smart card system for the distribution of diesel and gasoline will be in May 2016.

He added that they were reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Supply to include those entitled to subsidized butane (LPG cylinders) to avoid a shortage crisis during this winter inside the warehouses, while  also implementing a European fuel distribution system for the first time in Egypt.
